Flamingos on the lakeshore of Laveno
Four monstrous flamingos rise with their heads from the ground: Artist Stefano Bombardieri is creating a stir in the park on the promenade of Laveno, right in front of the Hotel de Charme, with his animal sculptures. This exhibition is being shown for the first time by the 89cento art gallery and will be on display until October 2024.
The sculpture Rosa Pallido Fenicottero, exhibited for the first time in collaboration with the 89cento gallery on the lakeshore of Laveno, features four flamingos powerfully emerging from the ground. With grim looks, they observe the visitors, judging them with their yellow and blue eyes. Stefano Bombardieri is an artist who is passionately committed to environmental protection; each of his works relates to nature and reminds us of the severe impact climate change has on Earth’s ecosystem. In Rosa Pallido Fenicottero, nature, embodied by four monstrous birds, responds: it rises powerfully from the ground, observing humanity and its sins. The birds’ eyes are yellow with rage and blue with anger, almost human, silently judging us.
Struzzo di Rubik is a pun in sculpture form: an ostrich, the human embodiment of vanity and foolishness, sticks its head into an entirely white Rubik’s Cube. Instead of appreciating the beauty of the place where it is exhibited, the ostrich-human buries its head in its problems. Unsolvable, like a colorless Rubik’s Cube.
Stefano Bombardieri’s sculptures will be on display until October 2024. Every evening, they are illuminated in the park. More works by Bombardieri can be seen in the gallery, which is located directly on the promenade.
